Third Trimester: Preparing for Delivery

The third trimester extends from week 28 until delivery. During this stage, the baby grows rapidly and the body prepares for labor.

What to Expect

Common changes include increased abdominal size, back pain, frequent urination, breathlessness, and Braxton Hicks contractions (mild practice contractions).

Preparing for Birth

  • Attend regular prenatal checkups more frequently
  • Discuss your birth plan with your doctor
  • Take recommended vaccinations if advised
  • Learn about signs of labor and hospital admission procedures

Packing for Hospital

Prepare your hospital bag in advance, including:

  • Comfortable clothing and essentials for mother
  • Baby clothes, diapers, and blankets
  • Medical records and identification documents

Emotional Preparation

It is normal to feel both excitement and anxiety. Antenatal classes and support from family can help you feel more confident and prepared.
